Children at the Tessie W. Norris Cochran-Bleckley County Library cooled off in a big way after story time Tuesday as members of the Cochran Fire Department helped turn the library lawn into a splash zone.
Following a special reading by Mayor Carla Coley, youngsters traded books for bathing suits and eagerly lined up for Water Day, the latest event in the library’s summer programming. Firefighters opened a fire hose, sending streams of water across the lawn as children laughed, ran, and cooled off under the summer sun.
The event combined the joy of reading with outdoor fun, giving families a chance to celebrate the season while creating lasting memories. Library staff thanked the Cochran Fire Department for helping make the day a success and providing a refreshing way for children to end the program.
Water Day was one of several activities offered through the library’s summer schedule, encouraging children to stay engaged with reading while enjoying educational and family-friendly events throughout the break.
