The City of Cochran highlighted its Street Department this week as part of Georgia Cities Week 2026, recognizing the team’s role in maintaining roads and supporting city infrastructure.
According to information released by the city, the department is responsible for repairing and maintaining more than 52 miles of roads within the city limits. Roads are regularly inspected and repaired using cold patch blacktop to help provide safe travel for motorists.
The Street Department also handles signage and plays an important role in keeping transportation routes clear and accessible for residents, emergency responders and day-to-day traffic.
The city reported the department has 10 employees, including seven full-time and three part-time workers.
City officials also noted excitement over upcoming transportation improvements, including Georgia Department of Transportation paving on Dykes Street and planned intersection work connected to the Downtown Streetscape Project.
