COCHRAN — Families considering youth football or cheerleading this fall can now find additional information about the upcoming season as the Cochran-Bleckley Recreation Department has released a list of frequently asked questions.
Registration for football and cheerleading remains open through Aug. 18.
According to the recreation department, registration costs are $60 for all cheerleading and 6U football, while 8U, 10U and 12U football registration is $70.
Practices are expected to begin around the beginning of September, with Opening Day planned for late September. Games will typically be played on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, with the possibility of Saturday games depending on the number of teams in each league.
The regular season is expected to conclude in late October. For football players in the 8U, 10U and 12U divisions, All-Star practices will begin as soon as possible following the regular season, with the District All-Star Tournaments scheduled to begin Nov. 14.
The recreation department also noted that soccer and football/cheer seasons run at the same time, making it difficult for children to participate in both. However, because fall baseball and softball begin near the end of football season, many athletes are able to participate in both sports unless they are selected for a football All-Star team.
Parents with additional questions are encouraged to contact the Cochran-Bleckley Recreation Department. Registration information is available at www.cbrdrecreation.com.
