Some foods are fancy. Some foods are nutritious. And some foods are simply comfort food.
For me, Cheetos have always fallen into that last category.
Back in my print newspaper days, Cheetos were the deadline snack. So when I spotted this giant container of Cheetos Skulls White Cheddar at the Walmart in Eastman, Georgia, there wasn’t much deliberation involved. They were coming home with me.
I’ve actually loved these little skull-shaped Cheetos since I first found them around Halloween several years ago. They’ve appeared in bags since then, but this year I found an 18-ounce container—which might be dangerous information for fellow Cheetos fans.
The skulls are light and crunchy with just the right amount of white cheddar flavor. They’re cheesy without being overwhelmingly cheesy, and the texture is one of my favorite things about them.
But here’s a major selling point:
No orange fingers.
You can snack while reading, typing, working or scrolling through your phone without leaving behind evidence that you’ve been elbow-deep in a bag of Cheetos.
Are they sophisticated? Absolutely not.
Are they shaped like tiny skulls? Yes.
Did that stop a 56-year-old newspaper woman from getting ridiculously excited when she saw them? Also absolutely not.
Sometimes comfort food doesn’t need to make sense. It just needs to make you happy.

Would I buy them again? Considering I’m already planning the return trip, I think we know the answer.
Becky’s verdict: Crunchy, cheesy, nostalgic and fun. I’ll be going back for another container—or two—before they disappear for the season.
