From Staff Reports

A summer tradition with a holiday twist is returning to Cochran Motor Speedway, and this year’s event will help make Christmas brighter for local children and families.

The annual Christmas in July event is scheduled for July 3-4 at Cochran Motor Speedway, with a special feature race taking place on Saturday, July 4, as five deputies from the Bleckley County Sheriff’s Office compete against one another in what organizers are calling “The Fastest Sheriff in Town.”

The fundraiser will benefit Shop With a Sheriff, a program that helps provide Christmas gifts and holiday assistance to local children and families in need.

According to event organizers, all proceeds from the Christmas-themed fundraiser will remain local through the Shop With a Sheriff program. In addition to monetary donations, attendees can also bring new toy donations and non-perishable food items to support area families during the holiday season.

Those unable to attend the event in person can still contribute through Cash App and Venmo donation options listed on promotional materials.

The family-friendly event combines dirt track racing with community giving, allowing fans to enjoy a weekend at the speedway while supporting a cause that directly impacts Bleckley County residents.

Organizers encourage residents to come out, cheer on the deputies, enjoy the racing action and help make a difference for local families.
