A 61-year-old Bleckley County man is being held without bond after being arrested on multiple felony charges following an investigation into allegations involving a child.
According to the Bleckley County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and criminal investigators responded to a residence on Catbird Road on June 5 regarding allegations involving crimes against a child. Investigators immediately launched an investigation.
As a result of that investigation, Jimmy Kersey, 61, was arrested and charged with aggravated child molestation, two counts of child molestation, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and two counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
Kersey was taken into custody and is currently being held without bond at the Bleckley County Law Enforcement Center.
Sheriff Daniel Cape said the agency’s focus was on protecting the victim, securing evidence, and removing any potential threat to the community before releasing information publicly.
“These are some of the most disturbing cases law enforcement encounters, and we take them extremely seriously,” Cape stated in a news release.
