Residents looking for ways to stay involved this summer will have plenty of opportunities throughout June, according to a community calendar released by the Bleckley Progress and the Cochran-Bleckley County Chamber of Commerce.
The month kicks off with the Cochran Farmers Market, which will be held each Saturday in June beginning at 8 a.m., unless otherwise noted.
Government meetings are scheduled throughout the month, including a City Council work session on June 4, a City Council meeting on June 9, a Board of Education meeting on June 11, a Downtown Development Authority meeting on June 16 and a County Commissioners meeting on June 18.
Sports fans can cheer on local youth during the Dixie Youth Baseball 10U District Tournament, set for June 5-7 at the Recreation Department.
Several community events are also planned, including the Rozier Auto Parts Car Show and the Dre Day Foundation’s Fifth Annual Gun Violence Awareness Festival on June 6. The popular Second Saturday Music & Food Trucks event will return June 13, while the Chamber of Commerce will host Bingo Night on June 15.
The community will also celebrate Juneteenth on June 20 and gather for Bible Study at the Track on June 24. The month concludes with 99 Collective Worship Night on June 27 at The Mule Barn.
For those looking for family-friendly activities, community fellowship, local government updates or entertainment, June offers a little something for everyone.
