The refrigeration section at Walmart in Cochran appeared to be largely shut down Wednesday, leaving many customers unable to purchase refrigerated and frozen items and wondering when the issue would be resolved.

Multiple aisles in the grocery section were blocked off with caution tape, including dairy and frozen food areas. Blue tarps could also be seen covering sections of the produce area.

Customers shopping Wednesday afternoon said they were frustrated after discovering many items on their grocery lists were unavailable.

Employees on the floor told customers they were unsure what had caused the problem or when the systems would be back up and running. Management was not immediately available for comment.

According to customers in the store, refrigeration issues may have also affected the store on Memorial Day.

The temporary disruption comes after the recent closure of Food Depot, leaving Walmart as Cochran’s primary full-service grocery option for many local residents.

The Ledger will update this story if more information becomes available.
