From Staff Reports

Heartland EMS recently recognized dispatcher Megan Allen as part of its ongoing Employee Spotlight series, which gives the public an opportunity to learn more about members of the Heartland EMS team.

According to the feature, Allen has worked as a dispatcher with Heartland EMS for nearly nine years. She said the job was not something she originally planned to pursue.

“I wasn’t looking for this job, it kinda just found me,” Allen shared in the spotlight.

Allen said one of the things she enjoys most about EMS work is that every shift is different.

“I like how every shift is different and you never know what kind of calls you’re gonna get,” she said. “I take a lot of pride in making sure my crews and the patients are safe and taken care of every call, especially at night when the rest of the world is asleep.”

Outside of work, Allen enjoys playing guitar and working on her 1966 Mustang.

Heartland EMS said the Employee Spotlight series is designed to help the community get to know the people serving behind the scenes and on the front lines of emergency medical services.
