The City of Cochran is inviting residents to take part in Georgia Cities Week 2026 with a full lineup of events designed to bring the community together and highlight the importance of local government.

The weeklong celebration, set for April 19–25, will include opportunities for residents to engage with city leaders, participate in community cleanup efforts, and take advantage of services like scrap tire disposal.

The week kicks off Sunday, April 19, with a social media campaign encouraging residents to show their pride for Cochran by using hashtags such as #GCW26, #CochranGA, and #GAcities.

Beginning Monday, April 20, the city will offer a Scrap Tire Amnesty event. Residents can bring tires to the City Public Works Department, located at 192/194 Ash Street, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday (closed from noon to 1 p.m.). The amnesty event will continue throughout the week.

On Tuesday, April 21, residents are invited to attend “Coffee & Convo with the Chiefs” at 9 a.m. at The Mule Barn, offering a chance to meet and talk with local public safety leaders in a relaxed setting.

Wednesday, April 22, will recognize Administrative Professionals Day, honoring those who help keep city operations running smoothly behind the scenes.

Scrap tire collection will continue through Thursday and Friday, leading up to a busy Saturday to close out the week.

On Saturday, April 25, the community is encouraged to participate in a citywide clean-up from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Later that day, Downtown Day will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., hosted by the Cochran Downtown Development Authority. The event will include a Public Works Touch-A-Truck, giving families a hands-on look at city equipment and services.

Saturday will also mark the final day of the Scrap Tire Amnesty, with a trailer located in the Police Department parking lot from 9 a.m. to noon.

Georgia Cities Week is celebrated across the state each year to highlight the vital role cities play in providing services and shaping communities. In Cochran, the week serves as both a celebration and an invitation for residents to get involved and connect with the people and services that keep the city running.
