Just Like the Picture
I love Dairy Queen ice cream. If I really want to splurge, I will get a Peanut Buster Parfait. The combination of their ice cream, roasted peanuts, and hot fudge is delicious!
When Cheryl and I were in college, we would walk to the Dairy Queen. One day, we decided that we wanted a Peanut Buster Parfait. When we approached the window and ordered the parfait, the lady looked puzzled and said that she didn’t know how to make one. So, I showed her the picture on the window, and she went to work. It was extra special because she took her time, wanting it to look just like the picture.
As you read the Bible, you discover that it paints a picture of what a child of God should look like. Of course, the perfect picture is Jesus. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we should strive to become more like our Lord.
Paul said, “Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ” (Ephesians 5:1-2, NLT).
It is easy to compare ourselves to other people, but Jesus is our true standard. What do you need to surrender to the Holy Spirit so that you can look a little more like Jesus today?
