From Staff Reports
COCHRAN, Ga. — A 21-year-old Cochran man has been arrested following an investigation by the Bleckley County Sheriff’s Office into allegations of sexual offenses involving a 12-year-old child.
According to a press release issued Wednesday, Oct. 28, by Sheriff Daniel Cape, the investigation began Oct. 22 after authorities received a report of alleged sexual offenses involving a minor.
Investigators conducted interviews and gathered evidence during the investigation, including what the sheriff’s office described as a confession from the suspect.
Brian Mitchell Giberson, 21, of Cochran, was taken into custody Oct. 27 by the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office and transported to Bleckley County.
Giberson faces four charges, including:
- Two counts of child molestation
- One count of aggravated child molestation
- One count of enticing a child for indecent purposes
Cape expressed appreciation to the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance in taking Giberson into custody.
Authorities said no additional information about the victim will be released because of the child’s age and the sensitive nature of the investigation.
Giberson is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
