Bleckley County closed the second quarter with a major defensive play to take a 21-14 lead over Dublin into halftime Friday night.
The game was tied 14-14 late in the second quarter, and Dublin was driving in Bleckley County territory with only seconds remaining in the half.
That changed when Octavius Tate intercepted a Dublin pass and returned it 85 yards for a touchdown, giving the Royals a 20-14 advantage.
Dylan Lamb then converted the extra point to make the score 21-14.
The touchdown capped a back-and-forth first half that saw both teams score seven points in the opening quarter and continue trading momentum in the second.
Earlier in the quarter, Bleckley County tied the game at 14 when Zyion Love scored on a 1-yard rushing touchdown and Lamb added the point-after.
The Royals later drove deep into Dublin territory again but came away without points after a missed field goal.
Dublin then took possession with less than a minute remaining and moved the ball into Bleckley County territory before Tate’s interception changed the game just before halftime.
Bleckley County leads Dublin 21-14 at the break.
