There are curly fries, and then there are Greene Acres Farm curly fries.
You could top ’em with ketchup, but oh my — they are pretty awesome all by themselves.
Hot, fresh, crispy around the edges and soft in the middle, these wonderfully uneven curls taste homemade in the very best way. Some are tight little spirals. Some are long potato ribbons. Some are somewhere in between. Every one seems to have just the right amount of crunch.
They came out hot and piled high beside a scrumptious hamburger, and before long I realized I was paying just as much attention to the fries as I was the burger.
That is saying something.
There is nothing fancy about them, and that is part of what makes them so good. They are simple, fresh and satisfying — the kind of food you keep reaching for even after you have told yourself you are finished.
Add ketchup if you want to.
But you really do not need it.
Pair them with one of Greene Acres Farm’s burgers and an ice-cold orange lemonade, and you have yourself a mighty fine lunch.
My verdict?
Most excellent curly fries. A+. No notes. Give me the whole plate.
And the good news is you can get them on the weekends during Fall Frenzy on the Farm at Greene Acres Farm.
If you are headed out for the fall fun, come hungry.
