It takes a caring person to be a good nurse. My son-in-law is a nurse, and my daughter was as well. I also have friends who are nurses.

It’s wonderful to have someone you can call when you are not feeling well to get advice on what you need to do.

Most nurses have seen so much that no matter what is happening, they remain calm. I believe they are taught in nursing school to calmly say, “You’re going to be fine.”

We need that same steady spirit in our own lives. As we encounter difficult people and circumstances each day, it is not always easy to remain calm. There are people who blow their horns, cut in line, are inconsiderate, and treat us unfairly.

The Bible has a lot to say about remaining calm, being patient, and controlling our response when circumstances or people upset us. Paul told the Colossian believers to clothe themselves with “compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience,” and to “bear with each other” (Colossians 3:12-13).

Are you clothed with these characteristics? Are you able to remain calm in difficult circumstances? If not, know that God’s Spirit can transform you into that person as you fully surrender to His life-changing power.
