COCHRAN, Ga. — The Bleckley County Middle School Barons faced a tough East Laurens team in a matchup against an opponent that entered the game undefeated in region play.
Bleckley County was also without one of its key leaders, Ashton Ross, who did not suit up because of an injury.
Despite the final score, the Barons battled throughout the game and put themselves in scoring position several times. Costly turnovers, however, kept Bleckley County from putting points on the board.
East Laurens ultimately came away with the 28-0 victory.
Daniel Guzman led the Barons defensively in tackles as Bleckley County worked to contain a mature and experienced East Laurens team.
The shutout on the scoreboard did not tell the entire story of the game. The Barons created opportunities to score but were unable to capitalize, while turnovers proved costly.
Bleckley County continued to fight until the end against one of the region’s strongest teams.
