COCHRAN, Ga. — A juvenile already in custody in connection with a school threat investigation also expressed plans to carry out an attack at a church, according to an update Friday from Bleckley County Sheriff Daniel Cape.
Cape said investigators uncovered the additional information as the investigation continued.
No specific church was identified, and investigators have not identified a specific date or time connected with the threat.
“We want our churches, their congregations, and our entire community to be aware of this information,” Cape said.
The Bleckley County Sheriff’s Office continues to work with federal partners to investigate the threats and examine available information.
The juvenile remains in custody of the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.
Cape reiterated that threats involving schools, churches and the community will be taken seriously and said law enforcement will continue using available resources in the investigation.
Because the individual involved is a juvenile, The Ledger is not identifying the juvenile.
