As a child, I hated getting haircuts on Saturdays. There were always other things I preferred doing, like playing. The barber shop in our community was a lot like this one. Go in, sit down, and wait your turn.

I remember two barbers working in the shop, and my mom didn’t want Mr. Austin to cut my hair. Waiting to get a haircut on a Saturday felt like it took forever.

As far as waiting goes, things haven’t changed. We don’t like to wait, whether it is at a red light, in a restaurant, or for an appliance to be delivered.

As children of God, if we are honest, we can sometimes even become impatient waiting on God.

We want Him to work according to our schedule. We need to learn that God is never in a hurry, but He is never late.

His timing may not be what we want, but His timing is always best. David, who knew what it was like to wait on God, said, “Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for Him…” (Psalm 37:7).

When God asks us to wait, He is asking us to trust Him. Ask yourself, am I willing to trust Him enough to wait patiently for His timing?
