RODDY — For Leigh Ann Greene, Fall Frenzy at Greene Acres Farm is about much more than pumpkins.
It is about families spending time together, children experiencing farm life and traditions being created year after year.
Greene Acres Farm will open its ninth season of Fall Frenzy Sept. 26, welcoming visitors back for several weeks of agritourism, fall activities, food and family fun.
Greene said Fall Frenzy began in 2018 as a way to bring families onto the farm and create a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere.
Since then, it has grown into an event that draws thousands of visitors from multiple counties.
Visitors can enjoy the pumpkin patch, millet maze, hay bale maze, corn bin, giant bounce pad, playground, tractor rides, games, face painting and encounters with farm animals.
The farm is home to approximately 45 goats, along with chickens, ducks and six turkeys. Two pigs named Pancake and Waffles are also part of the Greene Acres family.
The animals are especially popular with children, but Greene said the farm offers something for all ages.
Zinnia fields add another colorful stop to the experience, and local artists and vendors are featured on weekends.
Food is also part of the Fall Frenzy tradition. The concession area offers several options, including curly fries and specialty drinks, while picnic tables and a pavilion provide places for families to sit, eat and spend time together.
Admission is $10 per person, with children age 2 and younger admitted free. Activities are included with admission, while food and pumpkins are sold separately.
For Greene, however, the most meaningful part of the season is seeing families return.
She has watched generations come together at the farm, creating memories, strengthening bonds and building traditions that often bring them back the following year.
“Everyone is welcome,” Greene said.
Greene Acres also offers opportunities for students to experience farm life.
School groups may schedule field trips that include guided, hands-on activities, farm animal encounters, a pumpkin learning experience and a sweet treat. The farm also delivers pumpkins to schoolchildren in Bleckley County.
A special Homeschool Day is planned for Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The farm will also be open Monday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for Columbus Day.
Regular Fall Frenzy hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 5:30 p.m. Sundays.
The 2026 season will continue through Nov. 1.
Even as Greene Acres prepares for the busy fall season, farm life is already moving toward what comes next. Greene said work is underway to prepare land for strawberry season months in advance.
That planning is part of the rhythm of agriculture, where one season often begins long before another one ends.
For now, though, pumpkins, corn bins, tractor rides, flowers and farm animals are ready to take center stage.
And if Greene has her way, visitors will leave Greene Acres with something more valuable than anything they can carry home — memories made together.
