COCHRAN — Bleckley County Middle School has released its calendar of events for August as students and teachers prepare to kick off a new school year.
The month began with the annual community Prayer Walk at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2, at the BCMS gym, to be followed by Meet the Teachers from 3:30 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
Students will return to class on Friday, Aug. 7, marking the start of the 2026-27 school year.
The school will also conduct ELA MAP Testing during the week of Aug. 10-14 and Math MAP Testing during the week of Aug. 17-21.
Additional events on the calendar include:
- Aug. 17 – 21st Century Program begins.
- Aug. 19 – Sixth-grade student meeting with Mrs. Dykes and Mr. Gibbs during social studies classes.
- Aug. 20 – Seventh- and eighth-grade student meeting with Mrs. Dykes and Mr. Gibbs during Connections.
- Aug. 21 – Yearbook and fall sports pictures.
- Aug. 24 – Eighth-grade Washington, D.C., parent meeting at 6 p.m. in the lunchroom.
Parents and students are encouraged to keep the calendar handy and watch for additional updates from Bleckley County Middle School throughout the month as the school year gets underway.
