By Dr. Philip West

“OK, Mrs. Dunn. We’ll slide you in there, scan your brain, and see if we can find out why you’ve been having these spells of claustrophobia.”
Some people have a very difficult time enduring an MRI.
Two years ago, I was having a terrible issue with my back. I found no relief unless I was sitting down.
The doctor scheduled me for two forty-five-minute MRIs.
When I arrived and lay down before the MRI began, I was in terrible pain. I was thinking that there would be no way I could lie there for two MRIs.
As they slid me back into the scanner, all I could do was pray: “Lord, I need the tests. Ease my pain.” Moments later, my pain eased to the point that, after the first MRI, they asked me if I wanted to get up for a break. I said, “No.”
So, with the Lord’s help, I was able to lie in the scanner for ninety minutes.
I say amen to Psalm 18:6: “In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: He heard my voice…” I was in distress and He heard my cry! God is faithful! What He did for me, He can do for you.
