Peach lovers and home bakers are invited to put their favorite recipes to the test during the Fourth of July Peach Cobbler Bake-Off, part of Cochran’s Stars, Stripes & Summer Nights celebration on Saturday, July 4, in downtown Cochran.

The competition begins at 5 p.m. and is open to individuals, families and groups. Contestants are encouraged to bring their best homemade peach cobbler for a chance to win prizes, ribbons and bragging rights.

Awards will be presented in several categories, including Best Crust, Most Adventurous, Best Flavor and Judges’ Choice.

According to the event rules, entries must be homemade peach cobblers prepared on the day of the event and submitted in a disposable container. Cobblers must be turned in by 4:30 p.m., and advance registration is recommended.

The Peach Cobbler Bake-Off is one of many activities planned during Cochran’s Independence Day celebration, which also includes a bicycle parade, golf cart parade, Liberty Run, fly-in, classic car cruise-in, barbecue cook-off, homemade ice cream competition, live entertainment, food vendors and fireworks.
