From Staff Reports

COCHRAN, Ga. — Following publication of The Ledger’s article, “Your City Council, Your Voice: What Cochran’s Charter Says About Representation and Accessibility,” additional telephone numbers have been located on the City of Cochran’s official website.

The original article included email addresses for all six council members but identified Councilman Shane Savant as the only council member with a publicly listed telephone number.

A subsequent review of the city’s website located telephone numbers for all six council members.

Accessibility and Representation

Section 2.16 of the City of Cochran Charter identifies accessibility as one of the responsibilities of elected council members.

Specifically, the charter states that council members are to:

“Be accessible to the citizens of Cochran through personal contact, telephone, and other electronic media.”

The charter also directs council members to listen to residents of their assigned districts and incorporate their concerns into the broader interests of the city.

Residents are encouraged to contact their elected representatives with questions, concerns and suggestions regarding city government.
