Bleckley County Schools has released its official 2026–27 Back-to-School Guide, providing families with important dates, school information, dress code reminders, meal information, transportation contacts and the school system’s calendar for the upcoming academic year.
The first day of school for students will be Friday, Aug. 7, 2026.
Prior to the start of classes, several events are scheduled to help families prepare for the new school year.
A Pre-K Parent Orientation will be held at 9 a.m. on Aug. 5 at the new BCPS gym. School visitations for all schools are also scheduled for 3:30-6 p.m. on Aug. 5, giving students and parents an opportunity to meet teachers and become familiar with their classrooms.
Calendar Highlights
The district calendar includes several key dates throughout the year, including:
- Aug. 3–6: Pre-planning for teachers
- Aug. 17: 21st Century After-School Program begins
- Sept. 7: Labor Day holiday
- Oct. 12–16: Fall Break
- Nov. 23–27: Thanksgiving holidays
- Dec. 21–Jan. 3: Christmas holidays
- Jan. 5: Students return to school
- Jan. 19: Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday
- Feb. 16: Presidents’ Day holiday
- Mar. 23: BCHS Title I Meeting
- Apr. 6–May 15: Milestones (EOG & EOC) testing window
- May 28: Last day of school
- June 1–2: Post-planning
The calendar also includes parent nights, report card dates, book fairs, class pictures, graduations and other school events throughout the year.
The guide reminds families that Bleckley County Schools follows a standardized dress code.
Parents are encouraged to review the individual dress code summaries for each school.
Meals and Child Care
Breakfast and lunch will continue to be provided at no cost for students. Adult and guest meal prices are also listed in the guide.
The district’s Child Care program will continue operating before and after school for eligible Bleckley County Primary School students. Parents may register and make payments through myschoolbucks.com.
