Shortly after our family took over Scott’s Barbecue in 1974, Mildred joined Roy and her sister, Lillian, as a waitress. She helped build the business and, over the years, became the “face” of Scott’s Barbecue.

More than anything, Mildred had a gift for connecting with people. She remembered not only what longtime customers liked to eat, but also the details of their lives and families. Mildred never met a stranger and, whether she was joking around or pouring sweet tea with her signature flair, her larger-than-life personality brought joy and laughter to everyone around her.

To our family, she was a beloved sister and aunt. To our customers, she was a friend. To our community, she was a legend. The way she made everyone feel special will continue to live on in the countless stories, smiles, and memories she leaves behind.

Mildred was truly one of a kind, and she will always be a part of the heart of Scott’s Barbecue.

Editor’s Note: Mildred Mimbs was born August 5, 1954, and passed away December 2, 2025.
