From Staff Reports

Families in Bleckley County will once again have access to free summer meals for children through the Bleckley County School System’s Summer Meals Program.

According to information released by school nutrition officials, meal pick-up will be available Tuesdays from today through June 30 at the Bleckley County Board of Education, located at 259 East Peter Street in Cochran.

Distribution will begin at 9:30 a.m. each Tuesday. Families will receive seven days worth of breakfast and lunch meals during each pick-up.

The program is available at no cost for children ages 18 and under. Officials said there is a limit of one breakfast and one lunch per child per day, and only a parent or guardian may pick up meals for children.

Drivers are asked to use the front circle for pick-up. Meals will be distributed under the “porch” area, and families are asked not to line up before 9 a.m.

The program is part of Georgia’s summer feeding initiative and is offered through the Georgia Department of Education School Nutrition Program.
