From Staff Reports

As communities across Georgia celebrate National Small Business Week May 3–9, local leaders and residents are being encouraged to recognize and support the small businesses that help downtown areas thrive.

From restaurants and retail shops to service providers and family-owned businesses, small business owners continue to play a major role in creating jobs, investing in their communities and adding character to local main streets.

Supporters say shopping local not only strengthens the local economy but also helps preserve the unique identity and charm of hometown communities.

Residents are encouraged this week to shop small, dine local and show appreciation for the business owners who continue to invest in Georgia’s communities every day.
