Educating children is one of society’s biggest endeavors and challenges. Here in Bleckley County, we take this seriously. We realize that by providing a solid education for our youth, we are preparing them for life beyond high school.

The foundation they receive in our schools influences theirs and our community’s future. We have an awesome school system, but there are always ways to improve.

Our students win many awards for excellence on a regional, state, and even national level.

The backbone for all these achievements are our teachers, parapros, support staff at each school, and parental support at home.

Those who are elected to make the financial, staffing, and curriculum decisions yearly is the local school board.

For years, it has been made up of business men and women, and community leaders. Now it is most important that we elect a person with an in-depth knowledge of the day-to-day workings of education in the actual classroom.

Someone who sees and actually knows the needs of today’s students and then makes sure they are given the knowledge, tools, and resources to achieve a solid foundation for life.

A person who can communicate with parents about what is needed. What the Bleckley County School Board needs is a certified (though retired) experienced teacher with insight and knowledge.

I believe this person is Kandace Lucas. She has 30 years of experience teaching students and knows what it takes day to day to make sure Bleckley County students achieve his or her best.

She has the insight and will make our system, board, and even better for our future.
