The Lady Royals Soccer Team took the win today in the first round of playoffs.
The Bleckley County Lady Royals are moving on—after a match that came down to the very last kick.
Bleckley County battled Dade County through a scoreless 0-0 tie in regulation, with both teams locked in a defensive showdown. The stalemate continued through two 10-minute overtime periods, sending the first-round playoff match into penalty kicks.
Goalkeeper Jana Tomlin proved to be the difference-maker early, recording three saves during regulation to keep the Lady Royals in the match.
In the first round of penalty kicks, Anniston Howell and Braylee Cobb each found the back of the net for Bleckley County. Meanwhile, Tomlin delivered under pressure, blocking three of Dade County’s attempts to keep the Lady Royals alive.
With the teams still even, the match moved into sudden-death penalty kicks.
Daylee Scoggins and Julia Arnold stepped up and converted their chances for Bleckley County, while Tomlin continued her standout performance in goal. She came up with three more blocks in the shootout, including the final save that secured the win and sent the Lady Royals into the next round.
In a game defined by defense, composure, and clutch performances, Bleckley County found a way to advance—proving once again that sometimes it only takes one moment to win it all.
