The Bleckley County Lady Royals soccer team came up short against Class A Division II’s top-ranked Irwin County, falling 4-2 in a competitive matchup.

Bleckley kept things close early, trailing just 3-2 at halftime. Goals came from Braylee Cobb and McKenzie Perkins, with Perkins’ score assisted by Anniston Howell.

Irwin County added one more goal in the second half, and despite the Lady Royals’ efforts, Bleckley was unable to generate enough offense to close the gap.

Facing the No. 1 team in their classification provided a strong test for the Lady Royals as they prepare for postseason play.

Bleckley returns to action tomorrow at Jones County in its final regular season game before opening the playoffs on Tuesday, April 21. First-round opponent has not yet been determined.
