COCHRAN, Ga. — History will come to life on the Cochran campus of Middle Georgia State University later this month as the community is invited to take a guided walking tour exploring the campus’s past.
In recognition of National Archives Month, MGC Archives and Roberts Memorial Library will present “Walk Through History” on Monday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m.
The free event will take participants on a guided tour of the Cochran campus, offering an opportunity to explore its history through photographs, historic buildings and stories preserved in the college’s archives.
The tour will begin at the front desk of Roberts Memorial Library.
Along the walking route, participants will have the opportunity to scan QR codes located at various stops. Each code will connect visitors to library guides featuring curated historical images, allowing them to see glimpses of the campus as it appeared in earlier years.
The event offers a chance for students, alumni, longtime residents and anyone interested in local history to discover more about the campus and its place in the Cochran community.
From historic campus buildings to photographs documenting student life, athletics and aviation, the university’s archives preserve pieces of an educational legacy that continues today.
National Archives Month, observed each October, recognizes the importance of preserving historical records and making them accessible to future generations.
The walking tour is free and open to everyone. No registration is required.
Participants should meet at Roberts Memorial Library on the Cochran campus at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26.
