SWAINSBORO — The Bleckley County Royals came out firing in the second half Friday night, scoring two third-quarter touchdowns to extend their lead over the Swainsboro Tigers.

After carrying a 21-10 advantage into halftime, the Royals added 14 unanswered points during the third quarter to take a commanding 35-10 lead heading into the final period.

Quarterback Brody Fleming continued his connection with Jason McNulty Jr., finding the receiver for a 39-yard touchdown pass with approximately eight minutes remaining in the third quarter. Dylan Lamb converted the extra point, extending Bleckley’s lead to 28-10.

It was the third touchdown connection between Fleming and McNulty of the evening. The pair had previously teamed up for scoring passes of 20 and 10 yards during the first half.

Bleckley’s defense also contributed to the third-quarter effort. Willy Walters recorded a tackle for loss as the Royals worked to keep Swainsboro’s offense from mounting a comeback.

With approximately five minutes remaining in the quarter, Zyion Love delivered another explosive play, breaking loose for a 44-yard rushing touchdown. The score pushed Bleckley’s advantage to 35-10.

Love had opened the game’s scoring with a 50-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

The Royals entered the fourth quarter with a 25-point advantage after holding Swainsboro scoreless in both the second and third quarters.

Swainsboro scored a touchdown early in the fourth quarter, cutting Bleckley’s lead to 35-17.

Latest reported score: Bleckley County 35, Swainsboro 17.
