COCHRAN — Education, entrepreneurship and community involvement are at the heart of the Cochran-Bleckley County Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s mission to make a lasting difference in Bleckley County.

Dr. Michael Stoy, chairman of the Foundation, believes investing in people today can help build a stronger community tomorrow. Through scholarships, educational opportunities for small-business owners and community fundraising, the Foundation hopes to make a positive impact.

For Stoy, the mission goes beyond awarding scholarships. It is about creating opportunities, encouraging local talent and inspiring those who benefit to eventually give back to their community.

Investing in Local Students

The Foundation has already awarded five $1,000 scholarships to help Bleckley County students pursue higher education.

Its scholarship program focuses on local students attending accredited institutions of higher education, with priority given to those pursuing degrees that can lead to employment within the region.

The goal extends beyond graduation. The Foundation hopes scholarship recipients will return to Bleckley County or the surrounding area, establish careers and contribute to their communities.

By supporting education, the organization is also investing in the region’s future workforce.

Supporting Small-Business Owners

The Foundation’s commitment to education also extends to entrepreneurs.

Its Small Business Owner Scholarship Program is designed to help both existing business owners and individuals interested in starting businesses obtain additional training and educational opportunities.

The program reflects the Foundation’s emphasis on strengthening local commerce and improving quality of life through education.

Individuals interested in learning more or applying may contact the Chamber of Commerce or Stoy.

Scholarship Raffle Offers 10 Prizes

Community members can support the Foundation’s educational mission through its annual scholarship raffle, with all proceeds benefiting scholarships for local students.

Tickets are available for a $10 donation each or three for $25.

The raffle features 10 prizes, including outdoor furniture, a porch swing, a picnic table and other items.

The drawing will be held Oct. 17 during the Great Pumpkin Festival, before the fireworks. Winners do not have to be present.

Tickets are available at the Chamber office, from Chamber board members, Daylight Doughnuts and Treasures on Second. They will also be available at the Great Pumpkin Festival.

Every ticket purchased helps the Foundation continue supporting local students.

Building a Stronger Community

Stoy’s commitment to the Foundation reflects his belief in education and his dedication to Bleckley County.

He hopes the organization will make a significant, positive impact by creating opportunities that benefit individuals and the community as a whole.

Encouraging young people to return home, supporting entrepreneurs and providing opportunities for local residents are central to that vision.

The Foundation’s efforts represent more than financial assistance. They are an investment in Bleckley County’s future and the people who will help shape it.
