COCHRAN, Ga. — Georgians are being encouraged to open a book and discover where the next story might take them as Georgia Reads Day returns Monday, Sept. 21.
The statewide observance will also kick off Georgia Reads Week, a celebration designed to encourage reading and highlight the importance books and literacy play in the lives of children and families.
This year’s theme, “Your Next Story Is Waiting,” serves as a reminder that a new adventure, new idea or even a new favorite character can be just a page away.
Georgia Reads Day and Week encourage families, schools, libraries and communities across the state to make time for reading and help young people develop a lifelong love of books.
And celebrating doesn’t have to be complicated. Read together as a family, revisit an old favorite, visit the local library or simply give a child some uninterrupted time with a book of their choosing.
Because sometimes the best way to celebrate reading is also the simplest:
Pick up a book and see where it takes you.
