EMANUEL COUNTY:Bleckley County turned a 7-7 game after the first quarter into a commanding halftime lead Friday night, scoring three unanswered touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 28-7 advantage over Emanuel County Institute.
The Royals moved in front early in the quarter when Zyion Love scored on a 24-yard rushing touchdown. Dylan Lamb added the extra point for a 14-7 lead.
Bleckley County’s defense then helped swing momentum. Octavius Tate intercepted an ECI pass, setting the Royals up in Bulldogs territory. Quarterback Brody Fleming later connected with Gage Harris on a long pass to move Bleckley County deeper into ECI territory.
Fleming finished that drive with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Landry Nobles, and Lamb’s PAT made it 21-7.
The Royals continued to make plays on defense, with Willy Walters recording a tackle for loss and Kix Foskey recovering an ECI fumble.
Bleckley County added one more score just before halftime. With less than a minute remaining, Fleming connected with Love on a 6-yard touchdown pass. Lamb converted the extra point to give the Royals a 28-7 halftime lead.
Bleckley County scored 21 points in the second quarter after the teams finished the opening period tied at 7.
