Bleckley County took control in the third quarter Friday night, scoring twice to stretch its halftime advantage to 27-6 over Cook County.
The Royals added their first touchdown of the second half midway through the quarter, with Dylan Lamb converting the extra point to push the lead to 20-6.
Bleckley struck again with about a minute remaining in the third. Quarterback Brody Fleming connected with Jason McNulty Jr. on a 13-yard touchdown pass, and Lamb added another successful PAT for a 27-6 advantage.
Cook moved the ball at times during the quarter, including a late long completion to Malcolm Merritt that carried the Hornets to the Bleckley 28-yard line, but the Royals’ defense kept Cook out of the end zone.
Bleckley also came up with a tackle for loss during the period and forced Cook to punt earlier in the quarter.
The Royals carried a 27-6 lead into the fourth quarter.
