As temperatures continue to climb during the summer marching band season, members of the Bleckley County High School Royal Kingsmen will have a new way to stay hydrated thanks to a hometown business.
The Huett Agency–Country Financial recently donated 92 personalized insulated metal water jugs to members of the Royal Kingsmen ahead of band camp.
Agency owner Bret Huett said the donation carries special meaning because of his own connection to the program.
“We are blessed to be able to add another band this year, now totaling three,” Huett shared on social media. “This one hits a little differently, though, because it’s my hometown band.”
Huett reflected on growing up with the Royal Kingsmen, recalling Friday nights when the band played from the stands as he competed on the football field. He also remembered his father serving as the band’s booster club president, his brother performing as a tuba player, and his sister as a Dazzler.
He credited former band directors Mr. and Mrs. Kimmel for helping build a tradition of excellence, noting the band’s consistent superior ratings during their tenure.
“The same band who screamed, ‘We’ve got more spirit than you,’ even though we were terrible on the football field,” Huett wrote with a touch of humor.
Now, Huett said, the Royal Kingsmen have become part of the Huett Agency family.
The purple insulated jugs feature each student’s name along with Royal Kingsmen graphics and the agency’s logo. Designed to keep drinks cold during long rehearsals in the Georgia heat, the jugs were presented just as band camp gets underway.
“Can’t wait to see the Bleckley County Bands and the Royal Kingsmen take the field this fall,” Huett said.
The donation is expected to help band members stay hydrated throughout summer practices and into the upcoming marching season, while also serving as personalized keepsakes they can use throughout the year.
