The Correspondent by Virginia Evans is a thoughtful, character-driven novel told through letters.

While I appreciated the writing and the reflections on life, family, and aging, I found myself comparing it to 84, Charing Cross Road, one of my favorite books. In that classic, the letters build a remarkable friendship. Here, the letters are more of a window into one woman’s memories, relationships, and emotions.

It was a good read and one I think many readers will enjoy.

It simply wasn’t a forever book for me. I gave it 4.5 stars and sent it on its way to a local Little Free Library, hoping it finds the reader who will love it even more than I did. If you are interested look at the Little Library by the City auditorium in Cochran on Second Street.
