Patriotic spirit extended beyond the courthouse square and into local storefronts during this year’s Fourth of July celebration as the Cochran Downtown Development Authority and the Cochran-Bleckley Chamber of Commerce hosted the inaugural “Stars, Stripes and Storefronts” summer window decorating contest.
Businesses throughout the community decorated their windows in red, white and blue, adding to the festive atmosphere surrounding the holiday celebration. Organizers said the competition drew strong participation and made selecting winners a challenge.
“The judges had to make some tough decisions because of all the great windows,” organizers said in announcing the results.
The winners were:
- First Place: Ard Propane, Inc. — $250 in Bleckley Bucks
- Second Place: Snow’s Asian Grill — $150 in Bleckley Bucks
- Third Place: The Laundry Basket — $50 in Bleckley Bucks
The contest was sponsored by State Bank of Cochran, a Division of BankSouth, which provided the prize money in Bleckley Bucks.
Organizers thanked State Bank of Cochran for partnering on the event and expressed appreciation to every business that participated, helping showcase community pride and making downtown Cochran an even more festive destination during the Independence Day celebration.
They also congratulated the inaugural winners and said they were grateful for the enthusiastic support from the local business community.
