Bleckley County will once again take part in the Eighth Annual Georgia Statewide Bible Reading on Monday, July 14, joining communities across Georgia in a public reading of Scripture.

This year’s local event will begin at 7:14 a.m. at the Bleckley County Courthouse and will feature Bleckley County Sheriff Daniel Cape and Cochran Police Chief Jeff Trawick, who will lead the reading of Daniel chapters three through seven – the Scripture passage assigned to Cochran and Bleckley County as part of the statewide initiative.

The public is invited to attend the gathering and participate in the reading of God’s Word.

Communities throughout Georgia have each been assigned portions of Scripture, with the goal of reading the entire Bible across the state on the same day.

Now in its eighth year, the Georgia Statewide Bible Reading brings together churches, public officials and citizens in a unified effort to publicly read Scripture.

Residents are encouraged to bring their Bibles and join local law enforcement leaders and fellow community members for the event at the courthouse.
