Young ice cream makers will have the chance to showcase their creativity during the Liberty Ice Cream Making Competition, part of Cochran’s Stars, Stripes & Summer Nights Fourth of July celebration on Saturday, July 4, in downtown Cochran.
The competition begins at 5 p.m. and is open to students entering fifth through eighth grades. Participants are invited to create their best homemade ice cream recipe for a chance to earn prizes and bragging rights.
Contest categories include Most Patriotic Flavor, Crowd Favorite, Best Presentation and Judges’ Choice. Bonus points will be awarded for recipes featuring Georgia-grown fruits, including peaches, apples, strawberries and blueberries.
According to the event rules, all entries must be homemade ice cream. Individuals or teams may participate, patriotic themes are encouraged, and contestants should provide samples for the judges.
The Liberty Ice Cream Making Competition is one of several events planned during Cochran’s Independence Day celebration, which also includes a bicycle parade, golf cart parade, Liberty Run, fly-in, classic car cruise-in, barbecue cook-off, peach cobbler competition, live entertainment, food vendors and fireworks.
