Lace up your running shoes and celebrate Independence Day with the Liberty Run, returning to downtown Cochran as part of the community’s Stars, Stripes & Summer Nights celebration on Saturday, July 4.
Hosted by the Cochran-Bleckley Chamber of Commerce and the Cochran Downtown Development Authority, the event features a 1-Mile Fun Run and a 5K Race, giving participants of all ages an opportunity to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary while enjoying a patriotic evening in downtown Cochran.
Race-day registration opens at 6:30 p.m. The 1-Mile Fun Run begins at 7 p.m., followed by the 5K at 7:30 p.m.
Awards will be presented to the top three overall male and female finishers in the 5K, as well as the top three male and female finishers in each age group. All participants registered for the 1-Mile Fun Run will receive participation awards.
The Liberty Run is one of many activities planned during Cochran’s Fourth of July celebration, which also includes a bicycle parade, fly-in, classic car cruise-in, barbecue cook-off, peach cobbler competition, homemade ice cream contest, live entertainment, food vendors, fireworks and more.
