Cochran and Bleckley County will celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with an evening of patriotic fun during Stars, Stripes & Summer Nights on Saturday, July 4, in downtown Cochran.

Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with activities centered around the Bleckley County Courthouse on Second Street. The family-friendly celebration will feature something for all ages, including a bicycle parade, water play zone for children, classic car cruise-in, barbecue cook-off, peach cobbler competition, ice cream-making contest, live music and entertainment, and a one-mile fun run and 5K race.

Residents can also enjoy a fly-in at Cochran Municipal Airport as part of the Independence Day festivities.

Organizers encourage families to bring their patriotic spirit and spend the evening celebrating with friends and neighbors while enjoying food, music and community activities. The event is free and open to the public.

The celebration is part of communities across the nation marking 250 years of American independence and promises an evening filled with hometown traditions and patriotic pride.
