I had this Flying Saucers Gun when I was a child, and I loved it! It was the kind of toy that your mother would say, “You need to take that outside to play with it.”

If you had to take a toy outside, that usually meant that it was a fun one. When the wind was blowing just right, the saucers would drift through the air after being launched. Of course, you could also use it like a gun and fire the saucers at a friend.

As long as it didn’t break, you could count on having a fun day.

As you grow older, what you see as a “fun day” begins to change. Now, an enjoyable day can include sitting and talking with family or friends, enjoying a quiet evening at home, taking a walk, doing something you love, or spending time in prayer and reading God’s Word.

God’s desire is that our lives be filled with joy. Jesus speaks to this in John 15, where he teaches that the greatest joy we can experience comes through an abiding relationship with Him.

Then in verse eleven He says, “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” As you abide in Him, your life will begin to overflow with His joy. Are you abiding in Christ?
