From Staff Reports
The Bleckley County High School Beta Club returned from the 2026 National Beta Convention in Nashville, Tennessee, with 12 national awards, including a third consecutive national championship for the BCHS Show Choir.
Each year, the National Beta Club hosts state conventions across the country, giving students the opportunity to compete in academic, leadership, technology, STEM, visual arts, marketing, performance and service-related events. Students who place at the state level earn the opportunity to advance to the National Beta Convention.
According to Beta Club Advisor Angela Jones, the BCHS Beta Club has steadily increased its success over the past five years, growing from 14 state placings to 30. At the Georgia State Beta Convention held in Savannah in December 2025, approximately 95 students qualified for nationals. An additional eight students earned national qualification during the Beta Leadership Summit in Jekyll Island earlier this year.
A total of 62 BCHS Beta members traveled to Nashville to compete in a variety of events, including academic testing, leadership competitions, digital portfolio, living literature, speech, visual arts and performing arts.
“We are proud to announce that we brought 12 National Awards back to Bleckley County High School and our community,” Jones said. “Each Beta made us incredibly proud with their efforts, leadership and sportsmanship.”
