From Staff Reports
More than 40 children and adults gathered at the Tessie W. Norris/Bleckley County Library recently for an interactive presentation by Nature Jodi as part of the library’s Summer Reading Program.
The educational program combined history, culture and nature, giving attendees an opportunity to learn through demonstrations and hands-on experiences.
Throughout the presentation, Nature Jodi showcased a variety of traditional tools and artifacts while discussing Native American history, survival skills and the relationship between people and the natural world. Participants learned about the uses of various hunting and everyday tools and how natural resources played an important role in daily life.
Audience members watched as she demonstrated the use of a blowgun and other traditional implements while sharing stories and information about skills that have been passed down through generations.
One of the highlights of the program came when attendees had the opportunity to get a closer look at a snake, providing both children and adults with a chance to learn more about the reptile and its place in nature.
The presentation encouraged curiosity and learning while supporting the library’s Summer Reading Program, which offers educational and engaging activities for local families throughout the summer months.
Library staff expressed appreciation to everyone who attended and helped make the event a success.
