The agenda from Tuesday night’s Cochran City Council meeting was made available to The Ledger.
Among the items listed on the agenda was a Juneteenth proclamation, a presentation to Police Chief Jeff Trawick, and department head reports from finance, fire, police and public works.
Council members were also scheduled to consider the appointment of Bonnie Raffield as interim city clerk.
Additional agenda items included a mayoral reappointment to the Cochran-Bleckley County Industrial Development Authority and appointments to the library board. According to the agenda, those appointments do not require council approval.
Council was also asked to consider event permits for upcoming Fourth of July and Juneteenth celebrations.
A significant item on the agenda involved consideration of a Congressional Directed Spending Award through the office of U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff. Documents provided to council indicate the City of Cochran has been awarded $179,000 for renovations and expansion of the historic Cochran Municipal Building and Auditorium, with a required local match of 45 percent.
Other agenda items included proposed changes to the city’s temporary promotion policy, a proposed employee travel policy, a proposed per diem for the mayor and council members, and improvements to the municipal building and downtown area.
According to agenda documents, proposed improvements include replacing subflooring and floor coverings in restrooms located in the economic development office space, repainting and repairing steps to the economic development offices, and sandblasting and repainting iron railings in the downtown area.
Council was also scheduled to consider a work detail agreement with the Georgia Department of Corrections.
The council entered executive session on a personnel matter before returning to open session and adjourning.
