An emergency meeting of the Cochran City Council has been called for Wednesday afternoon following a special called meeting Tuesday night involving a personnel matter.
According to the posted agenda, the emergency meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday in the conference room of the Cochran Municipal Building. The agenda lists a “personnel matter” as the topic of discussion.
The posted notice states that “special circumstances are such that 24-hour notice is not possible.”
Tuesday night’s special called meeting also centered on a personnel matter and included an executive session. No public action was taken following that meeting.
In a text message to The Ledger on Wednesday, Cochran Mayor Carla Coley said the emergency meeting was called after the interim city manager brought what she described as “a serious personnel matter” to the attention of the mayor and council.
When asked whether the issue discussed Wednesday was the same matter brought before council Tuesday night, Coley said it was and additional review was needed before any decisions could be made.
“The issue had to be looked into further today before any decisions could be made,” Coley told The Ledger.
The Ledger will continue following the meeting and provide updates as more information becomes available.
