An early morning illegal burn on Mt. Carmel Church Road resulted in the destruction of a historic church Sunday morning.
According to officials, firefighters responded to the scene around 4 a.m. and found the old Mt. Carmel Church “on the ground” upon arrival.
Authorities say the fire originated from an illegal burn by a nearby homeowner. The individual responsible is now facing charges in connection with the incident.
