As excitement builds for the Bleckley County Royals’ Final Four showdown against Vidalia next Thursday, the Cochran Downtown Development Authority is stepping up to help paint the town Royal purple with hometown pride.

The DDA has purchased 17-inch baseball-themed support signs that will be placed in local businesses across Cochran and Bleckley County to help cheer on the Royals during their state playoff run.

“We hope to spur on support for the Royals in their upcoming series against Vidalia,” said Ken Land, director of the Cochran Downtown Development Authority. “We hope to start in our downtown district, but any support is so valuable that we want to accommodate any business within the Cochran-Bleckley County area.”

Businesses interested in displaying a sign can contact Land by email at Ken@cochrandowntown.com or by text at 478-308-2029.

Land said the effort is simply a way for the DDA to give back to the community and show support for the Royals during their playoff run.

“It is something we are doing for the community, but if any donations are given, they could be made out to the City of Cochran DDA,” he said.

With the Royals just two wins away from a state championship appearance, community spirit is already building — and the DDA hopes local storefronts, windows and counters will soon reflect the town’s excitement.

“We just need our Royals supported, and if we can help, we sure hope to,” Land said. “Go Royals!”
